Hamas recovers Israeli drone in Gaza Strip

April 12, 2014 at 10:12 am

The armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement revealed on Tuesday that it has recovered an Israeli drone which crashed in the southern Gaza Strip. Members of the Izzudeen Al-Qassem Brigades found the wreckage of the unmanned aircraft near the Sufa crossing to the east of Rafah. It was taken to an unknown destination.

An Israeli military spokesperson said that a Skylark surveillance aircraft crashed on Tuesday morning due to a technical malfunction. However, the Israeli media reported that the drone was an unmanned fourth generation Heron 1 model which was developed by the Israeli Aerospace Industries Corporation.

This is the fourth Israeli drone found by Hamas. In previous years, the Israeli authorities have accused Hamas of testing their own drones.
