Israel is ready to mediate Ethiopian-Egyptian dispute over Al-Nahda Dam

Based on its good relations with both countries, Israel have said they are ready to mediate the Ethiopian-Egyptian dispute over Al-Nahda Dam, an Ethiopian news agency has revealed.


Al-Masri Al-Youm newspaper said that the official Ethiopian news agency had reported these remarks after a meeting between the Israeli minister of agriculture and rural development, Yair Shamir, and the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Myriam Healy Dessalines.

The Ethiopian news agency said that both officials discussed several issues regarding joint cooperation between their countries, including the Ethiopian-Egyptian dispute over the Dam.

Shamir, who will arrive in Addis Ababa on Wednesday with 60 Israeli businessmen, said that his country maintains good relations with Egypt and Ethiopia. Shamir said that his country is ready for any needed mediation in the issue of the Dam.

The Israeli delegation met the Ethiopian minister of agriculture, as well as the foreign minister.
