Israel to prosecute Abbas at the Hague over 'war crimes'

April 12, 2014 at 2:54 pm

The Israeli Religious Services Minister Naftali Bennett told Israeli radio Sunday that Israel intends to file a lawsuit at The Hague court accusing Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas of “committing war crimes”.

The Israeli escalation came in the aftermath of the Palestinian Authority’s request to join international organisations and treaties.

“We are about to file a lawsuit against Abu-Mazen (Abbas) on charges of perpetrating war crimes. The first charge is transferring funds to Hamas which fires rockets at Israel, and the second is financing the terrorists and murderers themselves.”

Bennett had previously told Israeli radio that he refused Livni’s accusations which she levelled at the Housing Minister Uri Ariel, blaming him for undermining negotiations. Bennett said that negotiations have been hindered due to the Palestinians’ rejection to recognise the “Jewish State.”

Bennett added that he deplored the fact that Livni is accusing Israeli’s rather than Palestinians.
