April 12, 2014 at 3:50 pm

The Egyptian Revolutionary Socialist Movement said in a statement Friday that security forces detained its member and political activist Mahienour El-Massry, and that she is currently locked up in Al-Mansheya Police Directorate.

In January, an Alexandria Misdemeanors Court convicted 7 activists of violating the “protests law” by taking part in a protest held in front of Alexandria Criminal Court during the Khalid Said murder trial. The defendants have been sentenced to two years in prison, and fined EGP 50,000. Four of them have been imprisoned, while three others, including Mahienour El-Massry, have been sentenced in absentia.
