Muslim Brotherhood: Death sentences are part of Israel's agenda

The Egyptian court’s ruling to sentence 529 anti-coup Egyptians to death is another step that proves the regime’s criminality and brutality, the Muslim Brotherhood said.

The Brotherhood said in a press release that the politicised Egyptian judiciary sentenced the 529 Muslim Brotherhood members to death because they fought against the military coup in a peaceful manner and because they support legitimacy and the people’s will.

The Brotherhood noted that “this criminal decision proves without doubt that what happened on June 30 is a military coup against the popular will, [against] the achievement of liberating objectives of the January 25 Revolution and in line with American instructions and the Israeli agenda.”

The statement went on to say, the court ruling also reveals the depth of the crisis that the regime is suffering, noting that the Egyptian regime is at a loss and is suffering from a state of confusion.

The ruling “takes Egypt back to the Middle Ages, reveals fascism and Nazism and is likely to deepen the division marring Egyptian society,” the Brotherhood added. They warned of the repercussions of such a ruling on security in Egypt and the region.
