Opposition leader says Syrians are fighting against Iranians

The Syrian people are fighting “a war on behalf of all Arabs against the regime of Bashar Al-Assad, the extremist forces in Iraq and Lebanon and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards”, the president of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces Ahmad Al-Jarba said in a statement today.

Al-Jarba made the comments before leaving to Saudi Arabia on his way to Kuwait to represent Syria at the Arab Summit. “The aim of our participation in the Arab Summit is to call for political and military support for the Syrian people and their institutions and to request filling Syria’s vacant seat in the summit,” he continues.

The coalition’s statement said “Al-Jarba is scheduled to meet with several Arab officials and leaders”.

Al-Jarba said he hoped the Gulf states’ differences with Qatar will not affect their support for the Syrian revolution.
