PA arrests 5 Hamas members in the West Bank

Five men from the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas have been arrested by the Palestinian Authority security services in the West Bank and a sixth has been summoned.

Palestinian general intelligence in Ramallah arrested Abdul Rahman Al-Jalees; a member of Hamas and former political prisoner when he refused to answer to a summons order by the agency. Al-Jalees threatened to go on hunger strike if the security agency detained him without charges.

The Palestinian Preventive Security Force (PSF) arrested Jalal Mohammed Al-Maslout; a former political prisoner and Abdul Fattah Kamal from the village of Qibya, west of Ramallah; both members of Hamas.

The PSF also arrested Mahmoud Ayoub Sidr; a former detainee at the Palestinian Authority (PA) security services in Hebron and Saad Sawwan from Qalqilya; north of West Bank when he showed up for an interview at the agency’s headquarters.

The PSF also summoned Rami Suleiman from the village of Marda in Selfeet who spent several years in Israeli jails and is a former political prisoner.

Meanwhile a Qalqilya court once again postponed the release of detained political prisoner 19-year-old Mo’en Obeid until next Sunday. The court charged another detainee Bakr Barre of “standing in suspicious places” and claims that Barre was seen near the Apartheid Wall.

The Palestinian political prisoner Hamid Islam from of the village of Silwad near Ramallah entered his sixth day of hunger strike to protest his continued arrest since September 2010 although he has served the three year sentence prison sentenced served to him.

Israeli forces arrested a student from the Palestine Polytechnic University; Mujahid Haitham Al-Qawasmi of Al-Sheikh Neighbourhood from his home in Hebron. They also arrested the leader of Islamic Jihad; Khaled Abu Zeina after raiding his home in the Jenin refugee camp. Al-Qawasmi and Abu Zeina are former political prisons who were detained in PA prisons.
