Palestinians negotiate with armed groups to neutralise Yarmouk

April 12, 2014 at 3:04 pm

Palestinian refugees in the Yarmouk Refugee Camp negotiate with the armed groups from time to time to defuse the situation in the camp and end the 270 day siege imposed on it, Action Group for Palestinians of Syria (AGPS) said yesterday.

AGPS said in a statement that the latest meeting between refugees and armed groups took place in the Palestine Mosque in the camp. The meeting coincided with a popular rally in the streets of the camp calling to defuse the unrest.

“News about a final agreement to neutralise the camp has not been confirmed yet,” AGPS said.

Meanwhile, the group said that Mohanad Al-Qadi, 50, from Homs died of his injuries after he was wounded several days ago while leaving the mosque.

Khahed Abu-Rashid, a teenager, also succumbed to injuries he obtained in a mortar attack on his house two months ago and died.

In an effort to help the hungry refugees, several charities have distributed meals to children and the elderly in Yarmouk.
