Turkey’s Finance Minister, Mehmet Şimşek, said on Monday that his country has achieved a budget surplus in January and February.

In a press statement following his ministry’s announcement of the latest financial statistics, Şimşek said that Turkey’s financial performance in January and February was satisfactory. He pointed out that the government is expected to meet its target levels in the budget until the end of the year, reported Reuters.

“The budget recorded a surplus of 3.6 billion Turkish Lira in the first two months,” said the minister, “indicating a continued strong financial position up to the year-end target.”
