Saudi authorities arrested over the past 45 days more than 15,000 “infiltrators” who tried to illegally cross to Saudi Arabia through the borders with Yemen.

Spokesman of border security guards in Gazan, south west of the country, Brigadier Abdullah Mahfouz said in a statement that the guards also seized 250 weapons and hundreds of kilograms of drugs in the past 30 days.

The Saudi-Yemeni borders, 1500 km long, are often crossed by immigrants seeking work opportunities, in addition to militants and drug smugglers.

On Monday, a Saudi soldier was killed by unidentified armed men in Gazan region, the Saudi news agency reported.
