El-Baradei pays tribute to Egyptian activist who died in suspicious circumstances

Egyptian activist and blogger Bassem Sabry has reportedly died after he went into a diabetic seizure and fell off a 10th floor balcony yesterday, social media reports claim.

Sabry, 31, was a member of the political communication committee of Hamdeen Sabbahi’s presidential election campaign. He was also a member of the Dostour Party.

He was the son of movie producer Farouk Sabry and brother of movie producer Walid Sabry.

Sabry died in similar circumstances as Egyptian actress Souad Hossni; Al-Leithy Nassif, the head of the Presidential Guard under President Anwar Sadat; and double agent Ashraf Marwan, all of whom fell off their balconies in London. The similarity has led to questions being asked about Bassem’s death.

Mohamed El-Baradei said via his Twitter account: “I call on all the youth of the revolution to pray for a companion and a noble person whom we lost. Goodbye, Bassem Sabry.”

Also the spokesperson for the Salafi Al-Nour Party Nader Bakkar expressed his condolences following Sabry’s death, describing him as a moral person who loved his country.
