Hamas: Israel's anger proves Palestinians are on the right track

Israeli anger over the Palestinian reconciliation agreement proves that the Palestinians are on the right track, the media adviser to the Hamas led government Taher Al-Nunu said.

Al-Nunu said in a brief statement via his Facebook that “the Israeli reaction to the reconciliation agreement and its clear anger is the biggest confirmation that the Palestinians are moving in the right direction by ending the division and unifying the internal front in the face of the occupation in order to reach a national strategy to achieve our people’s aspirations.”

He pointed out that the Israeli government’s recent decisions to suspend the peace talks and impose several economic sanctions on the Palestinian government in the West Bank stresses on the need to move forward with the reconciliation, urging the Palestinian side to take similar actions to promote Palestinian unity.

The Palestinian Prime Minister in the Hamas led government in the Gaza Strip Ismail Haniyeh announced on Wednesday that the Palestinian division has officially ended after his movement signed a national reconciliation agreement with the rival movement Fatah.

Haniyeh affirmed that Hamas will adhere to the Cairo and Doha declarations.
