Huwaidi: Saudi and UAE are funding media attack on the Brotherhood

May 4, 2014 at 12:41 pm

Journalist and Islamic thinker Fahmi Huwaidi condemned the Egyptian media’s attacks on Islamists and the Muslim Brotherhood which are being funded by Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

In an interview on Ala Masoliyaty (My Responsibility), Al-Jazeera, Huwaidi said that all media organisations and forces loyal to former President Hosni Mubarak’s regime were organised to attack the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and the Islamic and Arabic world and to pin charges on Libya, Turkey and Qatar.

He added that all the charges are fabricated with the aim of falsifying reality and distorting the truth to cover the massacres of the current regime. He said the media is promoting the rumour of a “Free Egyptian Army” forming in Libya, waiting for the right time to attack the Egyptian Army, but senior Libyan and Egyptian officials denied this.

A Libyan official, who spoke to Huwaidi, said that such an organisation would not be allowed to operate in Libya as it is an abuse of the country and because it would pose a threat to Egypt’s security.

He stressed that the propagandist media and coup officials instil these lies in order to put pressure on the Muslim Brotherhood and Islamists.

There are practices occurring behind doors which drive a wedge between the Egyptian people to benefit the enemies of the homeland, Huwaidi warned.
