Israel Economy Minister: 'Realistic era' to replace 'Oslo era'

May 4, 2014 at 11:03 am

The Oslo accords era has come to an end and the new era is called the “realistic era”, Israel’s Economy Minister Naftali Bennett of the right wing Jewish Home Party told foreign reporters yesterday.

Bennett said: “In the realistic era, we need to learn to live in co-existence which entails greater investment in the economy and improving the living conditions of the Palestinians in areas A and B under independent Palestinian self- governance while Israel applies its sovereignty over area C.”

Bennett claimed that several Israeli ministers support their government to gradually annex area C. “Israel has already annexed Jerusalem and the Golan Heights and the same model can be applied to those areas including granting their entire populations Israeli citizenship,” he pointed out.

Bennett noted that every day that passes in Israel without war is a good day and relieves the burden it has to bear.

The Israeli minister slammed the Palestinian reconciliation agreement between Fatah and Hamas claiming: “Hamas is an extremist, criminal and terrorist organisation which the majority of the free world knows and has killed nearly 1,000 Israelis and its charter reflects the mentality of its members.

“The Hamas leaders mean what they say. Only last week the movement fired several missiles at Israel.”

Bennett’s party is one of the extremist parties in the Israeli government and represents an extension to the former Mifdal Party.

Party members refuse the two-state solution and instead demand to annex the majority of the West Bank and leave other areas under autonomous rule.
