Muslim Brotherhood leader says detention conditions in Egypt recall Abu-Ghraib

May 4, 2014 at 12:50 pm

Prominent Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leader Hamza Zawbaa has said that “current detention conditions in Egypt recall scenes of [Israeli] detention in Gaza and [American] detention in the Iraqi prison of Abu-Ghraib.”

Zawbaa blamed the current de-facto government. He called all rebels killed in the demonstration “martyrs” and defenders of their country. Speaking to Al-Jazeera’s Mubashir Misr, he said that the “martyrs” killed every day in Egypt by the coup forces “mean nothing” to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

He accused the ICC of taking orders from the American administration, which is offering a cover up for the “bloody” military coup in Egypt.

Iraqi inmates in the prison of Abu-Ghraib witnessed savage treatment by American jailers during the American occupation of Iraq.
