Palestinians to join 60 international organisations

The central council of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) yesterday adopted a plan to pursue efforts to join 60 new United Nations treaties and international bodies.

The Palestinian People’s Party General Secretary Bassam Al-Salhi said in a statement: “The council affirms the need for the Palestinian leadership to continue efforts to join more United Nations organisations and international treaties under the Palestinian plan that was adopted.”

Al-Salhi said the council rejects the Israeli threats and the campaign it has waged against the Palestinian reconciliation agreement.

“Israel is fully responsible for the failure of international and US efforts to reach a peaceful settlement for the conflict through negotiations,” he said.
