Rouhani: Iran not giving up nuclear rights

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that his country would never give up its nuclear rights, the state news agency IRNA has reported.

“Iran will never give up its nuclear rights or our scientists’ great achievements in this field,” said Rouhani during an event to celebrate Iran’s new nuclear programme. “We have to make comprehensive and balanced efforts to defend them.”

The president described Western accusations against Iran’s nuclear ambitions as “blatant lies”, insisting that “the whole world” knows that the Iranian people are determined to continue their “scientific and legal activities” in this respect. He pointed out that Iran has to rely on its energy in the field of science and technology to strengthen its position.
