Obama says Assad has no place in Syria's future

US President Barack Obama has said that President Bashar Al-Assad has lost all legitimacy to rule the country and has no place in Syria's future. He was speaking during a meeting with the head of the Syrian Opposition Coalition.

Attending the meeting along with US National Security Adviser Susan Rice on Tuesday, Obama stressed his administration's commitment to reaching a political solution to the crisis. The talks were held with Ahmad Jarba and his colleagues in a coalition delegation.

The president's statement was issued by the White House.
