Egyptian liberal politician: Sisi's elections worse than Mubarak's

Egyptian liberal politician and President of Ghad Al-Thawra Party Ayman Nour dismissed the current presidential elections as “one-sided.”

Nour, who ran against Mubarak in the 2005 Presidential elections, told Reuters on the sidelines of Al-Jazeera Forum Monday that the presidential elections are being held in a climate of “monopoly of power” and lack any genuine completion.

Even under Mubarak, he said, “there was no such clear monopoly of the presidential race as what is happening now.”

He pointed out that Egyptian media faces enormous pressures by the military authorities to influence the opinions of viewers.

Nour ruled out that the Muslim Brotherhood could be excluded from the political arena, urging all sides to find a way out of “the dark tunnel.”
