Anadolu: turnout in presidential elections not 'impressive' as in previous polls

May 29, 2014 at 10:08 am

The Turkish news agency Anadolu said in a report Wednesday that unlike past elections where Egyptians impressed the world with their high turnout, they “confused” the world in the 2014 elections.

Although al-Sisi claimed to be backed by a majority of Egyptians, the turnout suggested otherwise, Anadolu said. Apparently, those who called on Sisi to run for elections did not turn out to vote, the news agency added.

It added that the low turnout suggested that the cliché media headlines “Egyptians impressed the world” should be replaced by the more accurate headline: “Egyptians confuse the world.”
