Pro-coup Egyptian youth groups vow to oust Sisi

A number of revolutionary groups are slated to hold a massive protest in Tahrir square after the coronation of Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi for president later this month, a spokesperson for April 6 Democratic Front said.

According to Mohamed Fouad, spokesperson of April 6 Democratic Front, a youth group which defected from the original April 6 Youth Movement and initially supported the July 3 military coup, said that the planned protest will be peaceful, and will aim at ousting Sisi “using different methods.”

He added that his group is coordinating with other political forces to explore ways to bring down military rule “by mobilizing the masses to protest in the streets or through awareness campaigns.”

Fouad, however, ruled out any cooperation with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Another activist, Khaled Abdelkereem, said that their campaign would target Sabbahi supporters and anti-Sisi Egyptians. However, “the return of the Muslim Brotherhood requires that they apologize to the people and give up the idea of legitimacy which they insist on.”
