OIC hails new Palestinian government

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) hailed the new Palestinian unity government sworn in by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday.

Secretary-General of the organisation Eyad Madani said: “This important, basic and pivotal measure is a victory for the will of the Palestinians.” He noted that the OIC fully supports this step.

Madani reiterated the importance of moving forward towards ending Palestinian divisions and reinforcing the bases of national unity for the sake of protecting the rights of the Palestinian people and their interests.

Meanwhile, he called upon the international community to support the national unity government and to afford all means that guarantee its success and carrying out its missions.
