June 4, 2014 at 9:27 am

The EU representative to the Palestinian territories John Rutter stressed the EU’s support for the new unity government during a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah yesterday.

Hamdallah said that the government would abide by all international agreements signed by the Palestine Liberation Organisation and the programme of President Mahmoud Abbas, political and international initiatives and peaceful options in order to reach an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.

Hamdallah explained that the government will provide and enhance services to citizens in all provinces. It will also work to solve various problems in the Gaza Strip especially the water shortage, pointing out that most Arab countries have expressed their support for the new government.
