Herzog: Netanyahu is leading us towards political collapse

Opposition leader Member of the Knesset Yitzhak Herzog criticised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the new Palestinian unity government on Wednesday, saying that his policy has led to “a complete collapse of Israeli foreign policy”.

The Haaretz newspaper quoted the Labor Party leader as saying that Netanyahu had failed to understand the weakness of Israel in the international arena.

Herzog said: “The man who describes himself as strong against Hamas has turned out to be strong at nothing but talk.”

“Even the US is willing to work with the Palestinian unity government. Netanyahu is talking, but the world isn’t listening,” Herzog said. He called on Netanyahu to work on a clear political programme and initiative, before Israel loses the support of the international community.
