Egyptian military control of Al-Arish port may be a prelude to an Israeli invasion of Gaza, says analyst

Military affairs analyst at Al Jazeera General Abdel-Hamid Emran said the decision to transfer assets of Al-Arish port to the armed forces is a military decision that could lead to a number of scenarios.

The first possible scenario is that the area will turn to a military zone to be governed according to military laws and regulations.

The second is that the decision may be a prelude to blocking aid to Gaza.

The third possible scenario, according to Emran, is that it might aim at facilitating an upcoming Israeli invasion of the Gaza strip.

“They justify the decision as a national security measure, but we ask them, what national security are you referring to? We never understood what you mean by this term,” Emran said.
