Israel approves 172 new housing units in East Jerusalem

June 18, 2014 at 1:49 pm

According to Israeli sources, the District Planning and Construction Commission for Jerusalem today approved the construction of 172 new housing units in the Har Homa settlement in East Jerusalem.

The Israeli independent news site Walla quoted sources saying that “the units that have been approved are spread out across on a number of existing constructions”.

These are the first settlement units that have been approved since the disappearance of three Israeli settlers from Hebron on Thursday night, an incident that no Palestinian party until today has claimed responsibility for, although Israel is holding Hamas responsible.

No statement by the Israeli Committee or the Israeli government has been given on the establishment of these settlement units.
