June 25, 2014 at 10:10 am

The Turkish Embassy in Tripoli and airport officials said yesterday that Ankara is working on the evacuation of hundreds of its nationals from Libya after retired general Khalifa Haftar, who is fighting Islamists in Libya’s east, made threats against Turkey, accusing it of supporting terrorism.

The airport’s spokesman Mohammed Ismail said that about 420 Turkish citizens were flown out of Libya from Misrata International Airport.

An official at the Turkish Embassy said, in the middle of the night about 140 others will be evicted from the Labraq Airport in the east of the country.
