July 5, 2014 at 2:04 pm

The Tunisian foreign ministry denounced on Friday “inhumane” acts carried out by Israel against the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, a statement has said. In the statement Tunis said it is “concerned about the deterioration of the humanitarian and security situation in the Palestinian territories and the aggression the Palestinians are experiencing at the hands of the Israeli occupation army.”

It accused the Israeli occupation of carrying out “collective punishment and siege” against “innocent victims” in the Palestinian territories. It said that Israeli acts include “arbitrary detention, destruction of houses and the forced displacement of families.”

Regarding the occurrence of this wave of aggression during the holy month of Ramadan, the statement said: “Tunis condemns these inhumane acts which ignore the feelings of Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan. These acts are considered flagrant violations of very basic human rights and international conventions.”

The statement called upon the international community to recognise Israel’s moral and legal responsibility for this aggression.
