July 8, 2014 at 10:01 am

Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi met with Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and a number of ministers to discuss the wave of anger that followed his recent decision to increase the price of fuel and other commodities, Alamat Online reported.

According to a source close to the president, Al-Sisi is “worried” about the possible reactions to his decision: “The presidency is worried that some may exploit the rise in prices in a negative way by staging protests against Al-Sisi and the government.”

The prices of most commodities and services have witnessed significant increases following the government’s failure to regulate the markets which led to widespread anger among the working and middle classes.
