Six killed, 25 wounded in Israeli airstrike on civilian house in Gaza

July 8, 2014 at 2:29 pm

At least six Palestinian civilians have been killed and 25 others wounded in a direct Israeli attack on a residential house in the south of the Gaza Strip.

This brings the latest toll since the announcement of the Israeli offensive in Gaza to 11 dead and 80 wounded, medical sources said

Witnesses said Palestinian civilians mounted the house of Qawar’e family in the city of Khan Younis after a drone attack that warned residents to leave the house ahead of it being targeted by F-16 rockets.

Israeli air forces attacked the house killing at least five and wounding 25 according to initial numbers released by medical sources.

Two hours earlier, an Israeli airstrike targeted a Palestinian car in central Gaza city killing five and wounding nine bystanders.

The Israeli media said the attack targeted a senior Hamas military leader, but only three of the five people killed were members of the military wing, and two others were not affiliated with any organisation.

Israel announced an escalation in attacks against Gaza overnight and called it Operation Protective Edge. Israeli warplanes are still roaring in the skies of the Strip.
