July 14, 2014 at 10:31 am

Hamas’ military wing Al-Qassam Brigades announced this morning that it launched several unmanned drones into the Israeli skies.

In a statement the group said the planes, loaded with explosives, flew 60 kilometres deep in the Israeli skies. Al-Qassam said the planes were launched to carry out certain missions without giving details of what the missions would be.

Meanwhile, Israeli media reported unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Gaza towards southern Israel this morning. The Israeli defence system Iron Dome intercepted one of the vehicles in Ashdod after it caused the rocket sirens to go off.

Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said the plane caused the sirens to ring for over two hours in Ashkelon, Ashdod, Netivot, Hof Ashkelon and Sdot Negev Regional Councils.

Al-Qassam had promised to announce more surprises throughout the ongoing confrontation with the Israeli occupation forces.
