Turkish parliamentary speaker condemns Israel's ground invasion of Gaza

July 18, 2014 at 11:52 am

Turkish Parliamentary Speaker Cemil Cicek strongly condemned on Friday Israel’s ground operation in the Gaza Strip, which was launched late Thursday evening, saying it is totally unacceptable, Anadolu news agency reported.

The news agency quoted Cicek as saying that: “It is time for everyone to say enough of this injustice. Everyone must call for a ceasefire before it is too late, and must find a solution before further bloodshed.”

Cicek pointed out that the continued Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has now taken on a new dimension against the innocent oppressed Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, saying that “until yesterday evening, the Israeli brutality was embodied in air raids targeting civilians, to later turn into a ground invasion, with a large military force, in an effort to kill more innocent children and women during the holy month [of Ramadan].”

The Turkish official criticised the international silence about what Israel is doing in the Gaza Strip, at a time when the world has witnessed the signing of many human rights agreements. He urged the international community to move quickly to stop this aggression, instead of making statements in support of Israel, before the fall of more victims.

Cicek said that he plans to send letters to parliamentary speakers across the world affirming Turkey’s full condemnation of the Israeli aggression and urging them to condemn it as well.
