The Palestinian Health Ministry announced on Thursday that the Israeli army has so far committed horrific massacres against at least 70 Palestinian families during its continued aggression in the Gaza Strip.

Over the last several weeks, Israel has conducted numerous strikes against entire Palestinian families, massacring old and young alike. The ministry pointed out in a statement that the number of those killed in the Israeli assault includes 579 members of 70 Palestinian families, with 973 other members of the same families injured.

According to the statement, the family members make up 40 per cent of the total casualties who have fallen during the Israeli war, which has so far killed 1,434 Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Public Works said the Israeli aggression has already led to the destruction of 5,238 housing units and partially damaged 30,050 housing units, of which 4,374 units have become uninhabitable.

Israel continues to blockade Gaza, even though Hamas agreed in June to give up its control over the enclave and to form a Palestinian unity government.

A 72-hour UN humanitarian truce broke down early on Friday only hours after it started.
