Turkey’s foreign minister Ahmet Davutolgu said that the popularity of the ruling AK Party stems from its “defence of human dignity.”

In a speech in Konya province on Monday, Davutoglu said that his country’s respect for human dignity was evident in its consistently humanitarian stance on Gaza, Syria and Iraq.

“We have never given up on protecting human dignity, and we will continue to defend the oppressed people everywhere,” he said.

Concerning the upcoming presidential elections, scheduled for August 10, Davutoglu reiterated its importance for Turkey, saying: “Our people will vote for Recep Tayyib Erdogan as president of the country, because he served Turkey throughout his 12 years in office.”
