Outgoing Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Malki accused the Iraqi President Fuad Masoum of breaching the country’s constitution, noting that he is planning to file a complaint against him at the Federation Court.
In a televised speech broadcast this morning, Al-Malki said: “I am going to file a complaint against the republic’s president for breaching the constitution, as well as for preferring factional interests over public interests.”
Al-Malki added: “The president breached the constitution by giving extra time for the largest parliamentary bloc to nominate a prime minister.
“Such an act represents a coup on the constitution and the political process,” Al-Malki said. “This has dangerous consequences on the unity of the country. Iraq is facing challenges more dangerous than other crises experienced during the past years.”
