Turkish Jewish poet calls Israel as illegitimate pirate state

August 12, 2014 at 10:00 am

Turkish Jewish poet Roni Margulies condemned Israel’s attacks on Gaza and called Israel as illegitimate pirate state. Speaking to Turkish Yeni Asya newspaper, Margulies said it was not legitimate for Jewish people to say that Palestine historically had belonged to the Jewish and Palestinians had no right to live there.

Asked what are the motives behind the Israel’s attacks on Palestinian people in Gaza, Margulies said: “In every 2 to 4 years Israel attacks Gaza and its goal is that when it doesn’t attack, Palestinians are getting close to establish their state. They (Palestinians) build government institutions, buildings, schools, infrastructure of a real state, but Israel reverse this process by attacking. The atrocity of Israel’s attacks result from the Palestinians’ desire to have their own state. This is not about arresting or killing those who fires rockets into Israel, but it is about killing Palestinians’ dreams and will to have their own state. Thus, Israel’s attack is not about rockets or HAMAS. “

Accusing Israel of sabotaging peace negotiations every time, Margulies also said it was Zionist propaganda machinery to say that in the past Palestinians had sold their lands to the Jewish people.

When asked why the international community had been silent on atrocity of Israel’s attacks, “International community has no power but Obama has. So Israel is a puppet of the US. For example hundred thousands of people have marched in London and elsewhere across the world, but World leaders close their eyes to this atrocity. Because, it is in their interests. Israel serves imperialists powers in the region” Marqulies said.

About HAMAS government in Gaza, Margulies said that they had to respect Palestinian people’s choice if they chose HAMAS and, HAMAS had been a legal and elected government of people in Gaza.

Margulies also praised Turkish NGO IHH for bringing Palestinian people’s suffering to the world public attention by organising Free Gaza Flotilla and Mavi Marmara in 2010.
