Fatah calls for Israeli soldiers with dual nationality to be prosecute

August 13, 2014 at 1:25 pm

Fatah member Mohammad Shtayyeh said the names of Israeli soldiers with dual nationality should be compiled in order to prosecute those who committed war crimes against the Palestinians.

Speaking during a political forum organised by the Palestine Polytechnic University in Hebron, in the southern West Bank, Shtayyeh called for Israeli soldiers to be stripped of their other nationalities pointing out that “Israeli soldiers with dual citizenship who participate in the aggression on Gaza make it so their countries participated in some way to the aggression against Palestine.”

Shtayyeh pointed to reports which indicate that more than 5,000 Israeli soldiers have dual nationality, more than one-third of them are American. He said: “What is needed now is to stop the aggression on the Gaza Strip”, adding that “the Palestinian leadership is considering placing Palestine under international trusteeship to provide international protection for the Palestinian people.”

Shtayyeh said: “President Mahmoud Abbas follows up with all parties to stop the aggression and reach a solution to this conflict,” adding that “the Palestinian leadership has taken the necessary steps to sign the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.”

Israel waged a military aggression on the Gaza Strip on July, 7 led to the killing 1,960 Palestinians and injuring nearly 10,000 more as well as the destruction of 38,086 houses and government buildings, according to Palestinian official figures.

Indirect talks between the Palestinian and Israeli delegations resumed on Monday under the auspices of Egypt.
