Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Bashir Atalay said that the process of transferring injured Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Turkey for medical treatment faces major difficulties because the transfer takes places through Israeli airports.

Atalay said in a press statement that the procedures of transferring injured Palestinians from Gaza involves severe difficulties, noting that Turkey had planned to transfer 40 wounded Palestinians on Wednesday but managed to transfer only 18 because they failed to obtain permissions to transfer them all.

He stressed that Turkey continues to transfer wounded Palestinians as part of a preliminary plan to receive 200 Palestinians in Turkey, noting that the first batch of four wounded Palestinians had arrived via an emergency aircraft owned by the Turkish Health Ministry; then another 18 wounded Gazans, along with 15 companions, arrived in Turkey on Wednesday.
