Israeli forces prepare to resume war on Palestinians in Gaza

Israeli media reports indicate that the army is ready to resume its war on the Gaza Strip on Monday evening, hours before the five-day truce ends, Arabs 48 news website reported.

The current truce ends on Monday at midnight. The media reports affirmed that the Israeli forces have raised the alarm for all the intelligence services because the launching of missiles is likely to resume, adding that the intelligence renewed its bank of targets during the previous weeks.

According to the media reports, failing to reach a lasting ceasefire deal with the Palestinians is not an estimation but instead an Israeli decision, as Israel does not intend to fully lift the siege of the Strip.

An Israeli military official was quoted by the media as saying that the Israeli army is preparing to resume launching missiles and mortars in the evening, before the end of the truce. The decision was taken based on the opinion of the Israeli political brass that the Cairo talks are failing.

On Sunday, the media quoted an Israeli official as saying that: “Israel is preparing for the failure of the talks. If this happens, there will be two possible outcomes: resumption of fire or Israeli unilateral steps represented by an easing of the siege of Gaza.”

The official added: “Israel will deal with Gaza on the basis of quiet for quiet and fire for fire… If Hamas renews launching rockets, the Israeli response will be harsh.”
