Egyptian student movement: Postponing school year will not stop our revolution

Egypt’s Students Against the Coup movement issued a statement on Thursday condemning the government’s decision to postpone the school year until October.

Cairo-based Rassd News Network quoted a statement by the movement which said: “The decision to postpone the school year for another month is a desperate attempt by the state to quell the students’ revolt and betrays its use of terror.”

The movement, which reportedly posted the statement on its Facebook page, added that: “The military backed government is a failing and quivering regime,” while also describing it as being incapable of making decisions.

The student movement claimed that the Egyptian government does not care about them or any of Egypt’s citizens, but rather only cares about “extinguishing” the revolution, even if it has to limit the duration of study for its own people.

The movement also stressed that, “the steps taken by the coup government will not deter students from continuing their revolt against the regime and the revolution will continue from within and outside of the universities, in all squares around the country.”
