Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Ali Larijani accused some countries of secretly supporting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (IS) adding that the American air strikes on IS positions lack credibility.
The Shura Council speaker said that if the West had been genuine about its war on terror, it should not have supported IS for the past few years, the Iranian channel Press TV quoted him saying.
He said IS members are hiding in houses, describing the American air strikes as futile.
Last week, during a visit to Iraq, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that his country is determined to preserve Iraq’s unity and sovereignty, because this is Iran’s duty. Zarif noted that Iraq’s security is crucial to Iran’s security and terrorism poses a threat to the entire world.
