Algerian Ministry of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs said on Friday it is to contribute towards sponsoring widows and Palestinians with disabilities, as well as treating children with post-war trauma stress.

In a statement the ministry said that Minister Mounia Meslem had met the Palestinian Ambassador to Algiers Louai Issa on Thursday. They discussed the humanitarian outcomes of the Israeli war on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

According to the statement, Meslem said that her ministry is ready to help the Palestinians in Gaza, but she did not clarify the number of patients or the size of the contribution.

The 51-day Israeli war on the Gaza Strip resulted in the death of 2,147 Palestinians and wounded more than 11,000 others. The UN said that at least 1,000 of the wounded are expected to suffer life-long disabilities.
