30 Syrians killed after Assad bombs Idlib

September 1, 2014 at 1:28 pm

At least 30 people were killed when regime forces rained explosive barrel bombs on the province of Idlib, northwest Syria, the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said yesterday.

The London based watchdog said the regime’s helicopters threw explosive barrels on the towns of Al-Hbeet and Khan Shaykhun which are controlled by opposition forces, killing at least 30 people including women and children and wounding dozens more.

The injured were transported to field hospitals in the two towns. Several houses were destroyed by the attacks and residents were working hard to unearth anyone trapped in the rubble.

The Syrian Revolution General Commission and the Local Coordination Committees of Syria confirmed that regime forces carried out aerial attacks against the towns of Al-Hbeet and Khan Shaykhun.

The Local Coordination Committees said in a statement that the regime’s warplanes today sent more than 60 vacuum bombs on the neighbourhood of Jobar which fell under the opposition’s control, east of the capital Damascus. Residents were said to be fleeing their homes following the intensification of the regime’s attacks.
