Chief of Hamas Political Bureau Khaled Meshaal said on Sunday that some Arabs “betrayed Gaza and some went beyond betrayal,” but noted that the resistance has “forgiven” them.

In a speech he made via video conference during a rally to celebrate the “resistance victory” in Gaza held in South Lebanon, Meshaal said that the Palestinian people would continue on the victory path, which is leading to the liberation of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.

Then, he said: “Some of the Arabs betrayed Gaza and some might have gone beyond betrayal… but we have forgiven them.”

Meshaal thanked the Lebanese people and all the Lebanese factions and institutions for their support of the Palestinian people.

He also said that Hamas supports the “unity, security and stability of Lebanon.” He added: “We respect the peculiarity of Lebanon and we do not interfere in its internal affairs. We are guest in Lebanon until we return to our land.”

The top Hamas official called upon the Palestinian leaders to go beyond the sacrifices made in Gaza when it comes to their political decision making. He asked if any of them had any comments, they should come to discuss this away from the mass media, stressing on the need to preserve Palestinian reconciliation.

Meanwhile, Hamas representative in Lebanon Ali Barakah said during the rally, attended by over 15,000 people, that they are celebrating the defeat of the project aimed at dividing the region based on sectarian backgrounds.

Barakah said that resistance is the most right and also the quickest way to liberate Jerusalem and Palestine.

He also condemned the assassination of the two Lebanese soldiers by the IS, expressing the support of the Palestinian people to their brothers in Lebanon in their “crisis”.
