Abu-Marzouk: We have no choice but to promote and strengthen the resistance

Deputy Head of Hamas political bureau Mousa Abu-Marzouk said yesterday that “those who failed to disarm the Palestinian resistance in the field and on the ground cannot succeed at the negotiating table”.

Abu-Marzouk said, in a statement posted on his Facebook page, that “no one can disarm the resistance, we have no choice but to promote and strengthen the resistance, especially after the victory it has achieved and the Palestinian support it garnered.”

Diplomats at the United Nations revealed that efforts are being made to obtain a Security Council resolution as a long-term solution precludes the repetition of the recent battle between Israel and Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip.

Israel demands disarming Hamas within any proposal for a permanent ceasefire agreement or any long-term solutions.

On August 26, the Palestinian and Israeli sides reached a comprehensive truce under Egyptian auspices after a war launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip resulted in the killing of 2,154 Palestinians and injured more than 11,000.

Meanwhile, Israel claims that 66 soldiers and four civilians were killed during the war while Israel’s medical centres reported that 2,522 Israelis, including 740 soldiers, received treatment during the war.
