September 12, 2014 at 11:18 am

Head of Prisoners and Freed Prisoners Affairs in Ramallah, Issa Qaraqe, said Thursday, that a Palestinian prisoner had died due to severe torture in an Israeli jail.

Qaraqe said during a press conference by the public authority for prisoner affairs and the prisoner club that the autopsy results of Raed Abdel-Salam Al-Jabari, 35, imprisoned on July, 26 2014 in Eshel prison, revealed that Jabari suffered a severe blow to the head causing internal bleeding and severe concussion that led to his death. He died at the Soroka Hospital on Tuesday

Qaraqe said the institute of forensic medicine in Abu Dis which conducted the autopsy said that he had suffered from an internal bleeding in the brain and carried beating marks on his lips, a blow to the back of his head and several other blows to the face and head.

He noted that Jabari’s body carried signs of revitalization, however he stressed that the victim did not suffer from any illness in the body or heart that could have led to his death.

He said, “the neck muscles appeared free of injuries or any signs of violence which goes against the Israeli claim that the prisoner hanged himself”.

Qaraqe accused Israel and its intelligence services of premeditated murder of Jabari. According to Qaraqei, several prisoners who were imprisoned with Jabari testified that he was severely beaten by the Nahshon forces when he was transferred to Eshel prison.

He concluded “we will prosecute Israel and its officials who commit crimes against our people and our prisoners”.

Jabari’s body was transferred to the Ahli Hospital in Hebron where he was buried on Friday.
