Saudi Arabia’s labour department said that the number of Egyptians working in the Kingdom was estimated to be 968,000 at the end of 2013, representing about 40 per cent of the total Arab expatriate workforce in Saudi Arabia, according to Anadolu news agency.

The news agency cited a press release issued by the Saudi ministry on Tuesday, which revealed that the Egyptian labour force tops the list of expatriates employed in Saudi Arabia in general, including both males and females. The percentage of males in the Egyptian workforce in Saudi Arabia is reportedly 98.7 per cent.

The ministry also noted that in 2012, Egyptian workers in Saudi Arabia numbered about 912,000, but the population rose by six per cent by the end of 2013, adding that the five most common occupations among Egyptians workers are: general accountant, marketing specialist and working in the fields of livestock and agriculture.
