Ethiopia: Dialogue is the only solution for Libya

The situation in Libya is very difficult and the security situation of grave concern and this constitutes a real threat to the unity of the country in the future, Ethiopian Foreign Minister Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.

The Anadolu news agency reported Ghebreyesus as saying, in a speech during a meeting of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union yesterday, that the solution to the Libyan crisis cannot be a military one, but must be comprehensive dialogue to complete the process of transformation.

The Ethiopian representative said the Libayn crisis cannot be ignored and finding a resolution must be made a top priority, stressing that Ethiopia is ready to contribute to resolving the crisis.

Speaking in New York on the sidelines of the 69th United Nations General Assembly, Ghebreyesus said comprehensive dialogue must be used to complete the process of transformation to the democratic process, stressing that military solution is not an option.

Libya has been suffering from a bloody armed conflict in more than one city, especially Tripoli and Benghazi. There has been ongoing fighting between armed brigades to extend their control, as well as a political crisis.
