Egyptian media is using 60s brainwashing tactics

The media machine that was responsible for brainwashing the masses in Egypt in the 1960s is playing the same role today, human rights lawyer and leader of Jabhat Al-Dameer Niveen Malak said.

Malak published her views on her Facebook page, where she wrote: “Yes, scenarios are recurring and history is repeating itself to the point where the same brainwashing machine that took over the media in the sixties is doing the same thing again. However, the difference today is that with open societies, what was once possible in the fifties and sixties is no longer possible today. It is impossible to implement the same mechanisms now.”

“In a time of when tweeting, the World Wide Web and social networks never sleep, it is inevitable that the New York Times comments about articles which falsify its stories to polish the image of an influential leader. This is of course done in an attempt to close off the social networking sites, to cut off Internet cables and to put an end to tweeting before it has a chance to succeed,” she warned.
