Al-Jazeera‘s channel Mubasher Misr presented a document that proves General Habib El-Adly, Egypt’s former interior minister, received economic gains after the January 25th Revolution during his time in prison. This is based on a report by the Central Auditing Organisation (CAO).

During its programme “Egypt Tonight”, the channel broadcasted the second part of the “secret” report by the CAO which talks about what it calls “the corruption of the interior ministry”.

It presented documents proving that former interior ministers are receiving economic gains of EGP 10,000 to 20,000 without any legal basis, as well as over EGP 1 million given to figures outside the ministry of interior.

The report also stated that such illegal spending has cost the State Treasury EGP 117 million in owed taxes.
